Problems with indexing backlinks?

Jodi

Many SEOs do not realise the importance of getting the backlinks they have recently created indexed.Although they might believe only building links to a website, the true fact is that most of the times only a very small fraction of all links created are indexed.

Here are some top notch tips for getting your backlinks found by Google, indexed and added to the whole picture:

1.      LinkLicious.me

This service can be accessed for free. Basically it creates RSS feeds from your backlinks and pings them until they get crawled.

2.      RSS Holder

Probably the most popular website for creating RSS feeds from backlinks and also for hosting those feeds was links2rss.com. However, as it was de-indexed by Google and also spammed to death, RSS Holder seems to be a nice alternative.

These are the steps you should follow:

-          Add your links and create an RSS from them

-          Submit the created RSS feed to RSS directories (there are many automation tools for this as well)

-          Bookmark it to as many websites as possible

-          Last, but not least, throw some Scrapebox/Xrumer links to all backlinks created

This will ensure a quick crawl by Google’s spiders and also a quick index rate.

3.      Drip feed services

Drip feed services such as Backlinks Genie or Dripable are getting more and more popular nowadays. Basically, you add a bunch of links to their dashboard and each they your links receive from 100 to thousands of links each day, thus ensuring your main backlinks getting indexed and also receiving some extra link-juice.

Four features you should look for in a link

Jodi

You should probably know by now that the best way for ranking higher in search engines is to start link building. Backlinks of a website are the most important votes when it comes to Google deciding whether your site deserves a top ranking for certain keywords or not.

Many folks are following white hat, legit link building strategies, others decide to go “on the dark side” and build links through black hat methods, however these features below are a total must for any successful link building campaign.

1.      Website relevancy

Although many SEOs consider that “a link is a link is a link”, when trying to get only the crème de la crème of backlinks you should definitely consider searching for highly relevant websites to get links from. If you are selling for example sports shoes, a relevant backlink can come from shoes, sports, athletes websites, and not only.

2.      Number of outbound links

You should definitely search for pages/websites that keep their outbound links levels low and most important, if they are linking out to websites promoting pharma, casinos you should skip that very website, of course, unless you are promoting these type of products/services as well.

3.      Domain authority

Domain authority is calculated based on many factors, such as page rank, age, number of backlinks, relevancy of backlinks etc. You can easily check a website’s authority by using a free tool such as SEOQuake.

4.      Anchor text

We cannot stress enough for the importance of anchor text. You want to rank for a term like web design, then try to get backlinks to your website anchored with that very text. Important: never overdo it! You should try to also get backlinks with variation of your keyword and also containing your brand name in anchor, so that your entire link building campaign will seem natural.

Yahoo Site Explorer to be closed

Jodi

The search engine optimisation community was expecting this bad news: Yahoo Site Explorer, maybe the most popular service for analysing backlinks of certain websites, it is to be closed somewhen this year. Offered for free for so many years, this online SEO tool was considered a great help when trying to create a “links profile picture” for competitors’ websites or when checking our own website’s backlinks.

Lately, many SEOs reported that Yahoo Site Explorer is updating its database way slower than before and this near closing-down seems to be the answer. After almost 6 years of being used by thousands of SEOs, Hemant Minocha (Product Manager for Yahoo Site Explorer) announced that later this year this popular product is to be discontinued.

Furthermore, you can read on Yahoo Search Blog the recommendations for anyone that was using YSE to sign up with Bing Webmaster Tools and use it accordingly. Problem with the Bing’s Tools is that it is almost a certain thing they will not reveal so many linking details on websites; however, only time will tell us how Microsoft’s Bing will improve and IF it will be improved (in terms of linking “exploration”).

You can still benefit from YSE for a couple of months and for now, the most “appropriate” SEO tools for analysing backlinks for a certain website seems to be those provided by Majestic SEO. Of course, this coming with a monthly fee which is quite high when talking about more than average linking data.

How to create a great title for SEO and visitors

Jodi

Although a blog post’s title is not everything when it comes to search engine optimisation, it can really make the difference when it comes to related aspects such as:

-          Increasing click-through-rate

-          Getting more laser-targeted visitors

-          Ranking higher in search engine results

-          Acting like a “call-to-action”

There are many tips available online regarding how to create a SEO optimised title but is this everything that comes with a good title? Not at all! A good title can direct readers to reading your blog post/sales page and thus probably becoming buyers. Here are some great tips you should be using every day when it comes to creating posts/pages titles:

Keyword research

Although you might already have a great title idea in mind, do a little analyse and see whether it can drive more traffic to your website or not. Search terms related to your initial title, see which ones got more searches and low competition and structure your title upon them.

Keep it short and catchy!

You might think that writing 60-character titles will get you more SEO benefits, but put yourself in your readers’ shoes – does long title catch attention more than short, straight to the point ones? Will a boring long title get you more traffic than a shorter one that communicates more in fewer words? Probably not!

Keywords and attention

When incorporating keywords in your title Google by default bolds those in the search engine results. Not only that you are catching readers’ attention faster with this but you are also getting more attention from the search engines due to the fact you have used keywords in title. Furthermore, adding a little spice and pepper to your title will definitely make the difference when it comes to click-through-rate.

Google AdWords target users by their interest

Jodi

More than a year ago, Google announced they were testing a new ability for users to see targeted ads, based on their previous online activities. More specific: if a user has searched in the past for cheap web design services then goes on a camping blog to read more about his hobby, with interest categories advertisers will be able to show their ads on other unrelated websites, thus having the opportunity of getting more targeted visitors on their ads.

The Google Display Network now accepts “interest categories” and any advertiser can take advantage of this new feature. This is a big news while although this new feature is at its beginnings, there are way more chances to get targeted traffic that, based on their previous searches/visited pages/, seem to be probably the best “targets” for your services/products.

How to take advantage of this new feature? Just head to “Ad Preferences” page and select the categories you consider for being the most appropriate ones for your business. Furthermore, you can decide to opt-out from the “interest categories” and display your ads only on highly related websites.

There are over 1,000 interest categories to choose from – mobile phones, tourism etc – so there are many hidden opportunities to expand your brand exposure. According to guys from Google Adwords blog, their beta advertisers have increased not only their brand exposure but also a shoe retailer managed to drive 400% more conversions with lower prices. All these due to the proper interest categories selected.

Is Google Panda 2.2 here?

Jodi

First it was the Panda/Farmer update – when it was released in the wild, Google suspected that around 11.8% of all US queries will be affected by it. However, this not only addressed to bad quality auto-blogs/websites with duplicate content but also managed to hit bad legit online businesses and websites as well.

Following the US Panda release, in April a new version of this algorithm update was launch, targeting all English websites that appear to be “bad” in the search results, due to their low-quality content. May came with the Panda 2.1 and as most SEOs/webmasters were expecting, it seems that Panda 2.2 has been released.

The main problem with this new version is that almost nobody knows what exactly will do on the long run, although Matt Cutts said that this latest version comes with an “improved scraper detection”. Will this fix the problem previous versions have created with legit websites?

Almost one week ago, many webmasters reported massive changes in their websites’ traffic behavior, from folks that regain their positions after first Panda hit to other people claiming they have been hit hard, yet again. Still, probably the best answer will be coming from Google on their official blog, stay tuned as we are keeping an eye on this big news and will update you once we discover new evidence of Panda 2.2 being released.
