Tesco has obviously been keeping a beady eye on successful on-line fashion stores, such as Asos (previously known as As Seen On Screen).

For the news this month is that the supermarket giant, which already sells some of its own-brand clothing through its Tesco Direct website, is about to launch a dedicated fashion site.

According to reports, the new site will only sell own-brand lines, such as F&F and Cherokee.

Tesco commercial director Richard Brasher has said their new site will be “significantly different in look and feel to what it currently uses online”.

Despite our current economic downturn, fashion e-tailers such as Asos have remained buoyant thanks to competitive prices and a wide size range.

In the two months to January 16, 2009, Asos reported a 118% increase in sales compared to the same period the year before.

The new Tesco clothing site is expected to be ready in time for the launch of their autumn collection.

The above is surely yet more proof that business online is the way forward and allows both small and large companies a much higher chance of success.
