Another survey has confirmed that a growing number of consumers are using their mobile phone to make ecommerce purchases. A report recently released by a B2B integration firm found that 15% of people are buying via their smartphones.

But the report also found that many consumers think that mobile ecommerce is not necessarily secure enough.

A spokesperson said: “While the increasing consumer adoption rate of mobile devices has long been recognised by retailers, these survey findings suggest that offering mobile access to the brand is no longer just a ‘nice to have’; it has become a necessity.”

A new study has revealed that many more people are accessing maps via their mobile phones. The comScore report, based in America, found that 14% of mobile users accessed maps on their mobile phones in April, as the mobile map audience reached 33.5 million users. This amounts to a huge 44% increase on last year.

Figures also revealed that
more mobile users are accessing maps via apps rather than the browsers.

As more and more people utilise their mobile phones for internet and apps access it will be interesting to see how the UK follows – and what the usage will be like in a year’s time. We reckon it’ll be massive.

Mobile services in general are proving to be a major player in the way users access services and WebCreationUK are able to offer iphone app development to those who wish to use this valuable platform.

No longer will business folk need to worry about their mobile phone losing charge – so long as they are also cyclists. For Nokia has just launched a phone charging kit that uses a dynamo powered by the bike’s wheels (some of you will remember the dynamo powered lights we all used to use!).

To recharge your phone you’ll need to maintain a speed of 4mph. Charging times will vary according to your speed but it’s claimed that a 10 minute journey at 6mph will produce enough power for 28 minutes of talk time or 37 hours of standby time.

The phone charger is actually meant for countries where bikes are the most widespread form of transport but will work with any phone that uses a 2mm charger jack.

Nokia is not the first company to produce a dynamo phone charger. Pedal & Power, for example, already has one on the market.
